Circa 1850 Pontiled Charleston Taper Top Soda - C. CLARK

Here's an earlier Charleston soda with embossing in a rectangular sluf. It has a long neck and a lovely color: olive-hued forest green. It also has loads of crude character with glass drips under the applied top and twisting patterns in the neck. No damage but it's priced down due to ground wear.

Embossed in rectangular slug: C. CLARK / CHARLESTON, S. C.

Color: deep olive-toned forest/grass green
Height: 7 3/4"
Top: applied taper
Base: iron pontiled with heavy frosting in a very deep push-up. No residue but the pontil scar is vivid

Structural Condition: perfect structurally - no cracks, chips, bruises or notable dings.

Surface Condition: overall ground wear and some swirl etching probably from being in a wet hole. A good polish cleaning would likely improve it, but the embossing is not bold enough to tolerate heavy tumbling. Despite the ground wear, this bottle has loads of character and displays fine..
