Circa 1850-1860 Blue Pontiled Charleston Soda Water - John Seedorf

This is a chunky soda in a pleasing medium cobalt. It has loads of character with lots of bubbles, including a few that twist around the neck up under the top. The character of the bottle is also enhanced by some hammered whittle and a rockin' pontil scar.

Embossed: JOHN SEEDORF / CHARLESTON / S. C. // SODA / WATER

Color: medium cobalt blue
Height: 7 3/4"
Top: applied sharply tapered blob
Base: iron pontil in deep kickup and with lots of iron residue

Structural Condition: no damage of any sort. One of the thin string bubbles twisting up the neck appears to be open slightly with some minor discoloration in the bubble tail, mentioned for accuracy. Also, there is a 1/8" potstone near the bottom that has a small fisheye since the potstone goes to the surface - stable and adds to the crudity.

Surface Condition: pretty decent - seems to have been lightly polish-cleaned, with some residual light surface wear/scratchiness. Also slight overall dullness. A few of the embossing letters have spotty light high point wear. These are picky and mentioned for accuracy.
